Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe – Transfer to Bwindi

Your safari begins with arrival at Entebbe International Airport. After meeting your driver-guide, you set out on a scenic journey southwest toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The drive passes through rolling hills, banana plantations, and lively towns, with a stop for lunch along the way. By late afternoon, you arrive at your lodge on the edge of Bwindi’s rainforest, where you enjoy dinner and overnight in the cool mountain air.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a ranger briefing before beginning your gorilla trek. The forest is thick and enchanting, with trails that wind up and down through dense vegetation. After several hours, you finally meet your assigned gorilla family and spend a magical hour observing them in their natural home. The experience of watching silverbacks, mothers, and playful juveniles is unforgettable. You return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation, with dinner and overnight in Bwindi.

Day 3: Cross the Border to Rwanda – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

This morning, you leave Bwindi and drive to the Cyanika or Katuna border crossing. After clearing immigration, you enter Rwanda, where the volcanic peaks of the Virunga Mountains rise dramatically on the horizon. By midday, you arrive in Musanze, the gateway town to Volcanoes National Park. After checking into your lodge, you may choose to visit the nearby Iby’Iwacu cultural village, where you enjoy traditional Rwandan music, dance, and storytelling. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge facing the volcanoes.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, you report to the park headquarters for a briefing before setting off into the bamboo forests for golden monkey tracking. These primates are lively and entertaining, leaping from tree to tree and foraging in the undergrowth. Photographing and watching their playful behavior is a delightful contrast to the solemn power of the gorillas. After the trek, you return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge in Volcanoes National Park.

Day 5: Volcanoes National Park – Transfer to Kigali

After breakfast, you enjoy a relaxed morning at your lodge before beginning the short scenic drive to Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. Upon arrival, you may take a city tour that includes the Kigali Genocide Memorial, bustling craft markets, and local neighborhoods that reveal Rwanda’s modern energy and resilience. Dinner and overnight are at a luxury hotel in Kigali.

Day 6: Kigali City Tour – Departure

Your final morning offers time for a leisurely breakfast and, depending on your flight schedule, more sightseeing or shopping in Kigali. Later, you are transferred to Kigali International Airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your safari through Uganda and Rwanda.
