Detailed Itinerary —8-Day Rwanda Luxury Gorilla & Safari Experience

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali

Arrive at Kigali International Airport where you’ll be greeted by your private guide and transferred to your luxury city hotel. Depending on your arrival time, enjoy a short city tour including the Kigali Genocide Memorial. Dinner and overnight in Kigali.

Day 2: Kigali – Transfer to Akagera National Park

After breakfast, drive east to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park and home to the Big Five. Check into your luxury lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy your first exclusive game drive, spotting elephants, giraffes, buffalo, and lions. Overnight in Akagera.

Day 3: Full-Day Safari in Akagera

Spend the day on private game drives across Akagera’s diverse landscapes, from rolling hills to wetlands. Search for rhinos, leopards, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife along Lake Ihema. Sundowners by the lake provide the perfect close to the day. Overnight at Magashi Camp.

Day 4: Akagera – Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early briefing at the park headquarters, set off on your gorilla trekking experience. Hike through lush rainforest until you encounter a gorilla family in their natural habitat. Spending an hour with these gentle giants is one of the most profound wildlife experiences in the world. Return to your lodge for relaxation, a private sundowner, and a celebratory dinner. Overnight at Bisate or Singita.

Day 8: Golden Monkey Trek & Return to Kigali

On your final morning, take an optional trek to see golden monkeys, playful primates that are endemic to the Virunga forests. After breakfast, return to Kigali with a stop for scenic photography en route. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight, marking the end of your luxury Rwandan safari.
