Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Your safari begins with arrival at Kigali International Airport, where you are warmly welcomed by your driver-guide. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short Kigali city tour, visiting highlights such as the Kigali Genocide Memorial and craft markets. You then set off on a scenic two- to three-hour drive north to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park. The towering Virunga volcanoes dominate the horizon as you arrive at your lodge. Dinner and overnight are in Musanze.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

After an early breakfast, you head to the park headquarters for a briefing before embarking on your gorilla trek. Led by experienced rangers, you hike through bamboo forests and volcanic terrain until you encounter your assigned gorilla family. Spending an hour with these gentle giants—watching them feed, play, and interact—is an awe-inspiring and humbling experience. After your trek, you return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, with the afternoon free to enjoy the mountain scenery. Dinner and overnight are at your lodge near the park.

Day 3: Return to Kigali – Departure

After breakfast, you check out and drive back to Kigali. Depending on your flight schedule, you may enjoy more sightseeing or shopping in Kigali before being transferred to Kigali International Airport for your departure. This marks the end of your Volcanoes Express Safari.
