Detailed Itinerary —5-Day Classic Serengeti & Ngorongoro Safari

Day 1: Arusha – Transfer to Serengeti National Park

Your adventure begins with a morning pick-up in Arusha. Drive or take an optional flight into Serengeti National Park, arriving in time for lunch. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive across the endless plains, where elephants, zebras, and lions may appear before sunset. Dinner and overnight at your Serengeti lodge or tented camp.

Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive in Serengeti

After breakfast, set out on a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch to cover different regions of the Serengeti. Depending on the season, you may witness the Great Migration, when wildebeest and zebras cross the plains and rivers in dramatic scenes. Beyond the migration, the Serengeti is home to the Big Five, cheetahs, giraffes, and abundant birdlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Serengeti – Morning Game Drive & Transfer to Ngorongoro

Start your day with an early morning game drive to capture predators in action during the cooler hours. After breakfast, check out and begin your journey toward Ngorongoro, passing through scenic highlands. Arrive at your lodge on the crater rim by late afternoon, offering stunning views of the caldera below. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro.

Day 4: Full-Day Safari in Ngorongoro Crater

Descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site often called the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” Spend the day exploring its unique ecosystem, where you’ll find black rhinos, elephants, hippos, wildebeest, and large prides of lions. Day 5: Ngorongoro – Return to Arusha

After breakfast, check out and drive back to Arusha, arriving in the early afternoon. Depending on your onward plans, you can connect to a flight or extend your stay in Tanzania. This marks the end of your classic Serengeti and Ngorongoro safari.
