Detailed Itinerary —3-Day Gorilla Trekking Express Safari

Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Your safari begins early in the morning with a departure from Kampala or Entebbe. The journey to Bwindi takes you through scenic landscapes of rolling hills, rural homesteads, and fertile farmlands. Along the way, you will stop at the Equator in Kayabwe, where you can take photographs and enjoy a fun moment straddling the northern and southern hemispheres. Lunch is taken en route before you continue toward the southwest of the country. By late afternoon, you arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. After check-in at your lodge, you will relax as the mist rises over the forest. Dinner and overnight at the lodge prepare you for the trekking adventure of the next day.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

The day begins with breakfast followed by a transfer to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing by experienced rangers. You will then be assigned a gorilla family group to track and head out into the jungle with guides. The trek may last anywhere from two to six hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. The forest itself is enchanting, with its thick vegetation, bird calls, and occasional sightings of monkeys or other wildlife.

When you finally encounter the gorillas, the experience is nothing short of extraordinary. Watching the silverback’s commanding presence, observing mothers tenderly caring for their young, and seeing playful juveniles in their natural world creates an emotional connection that is difficult to describe. You are allowed one unforgettable hour in their presence before returning to the trail and making your way back to the lodge. The afternoon is reserved for rest, though you may choose to enjoy a cultural walk in the nearby community. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge.

Day 3: Return Journey to Kampala or Entebbe

After breakfast, you begin the journey back toward Kampala or Entebbe. The return drive provides another chance to take in the countryside views. Lunch is enjoyed along the way, and there is a final stop at the Equator for souvenir shopping and photographs. By evening, you arrive in Kampala or Entebbe, where the safari concludes with a drop-off at your hotel or airport for onward travel.
